The 10th City Hall of Playas de Rosarito, led by Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz, partnered with the Municipal Institute of Sports (IMDER) to host the third stage of the Chocolatería Antonella Cup on Tuesday. The cycling event took place along Popotla Boulevard as part of ongoing efforts to encourage physical activity and sports participation within the community.

Organized in collaboration with the Tijuana Cycling Association, the competition drew 169 cyclists from various municipalities across Baja California and the United States. The cup is part of a broader state-level circuit designed to elevate competitive cycling in the region.

The Chocolatería Antonella Cup features nine scoring stages held monthly at rotating venues. The event in Rosarito marked the third installment, following the first two rounds hosted in Tecate.

Cyclists competed in a timed road circuit format, with participants starting individually to ensure accurate timing and fair competition across 27 categories divided into eight groups.

Local authorities supported the event by closing Popotla Boulevard, providing a secure environment for racers. Francisco Carrasco, director of IMDER, attended on behalf of Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz and presided over the awards ceremony. Carrasco emphasized the value of such events in building a strong sports culture in Rosarito.

Beyond athletic competition, the cup carries a social mission as a portion of the proceeds supports young cyclists representing Baja California in national events, helping cover costs for equipment, bicycles, and travel.
