Playas de Rosarito has taken a significant step toward enhancing community safety with the launch of a new mobile app called the “Rosarito Smart Button.” This user-friendly tool aims to provide residents with a quick and reliable way to request help during emergencies, directly from their smartphones.
At the app’s unveiling, Mayor Rocío Adame emphasized its importance, saying, “The Rosarito Smart Button is a clear example of our commitment to keeping families safe. Now, residents can easily call for support and get immediate assistance from police, firefighters, and civil protection teams.”
Developed in collaboration with the local security and emergency services, the app is available in both Spanish and English, making it accessible to a wide range of users. It’s free to download from Google Play and the App Store. Once installed, users simply register with basic details (name, phone number, and address) and grant permission for the app to access their location.
The app’s main feature is a prominent red emergency button. When pressed, it instantly sends an alert to the municipal command center, pinpointing the caller’s exact location and the nature of the emergency. This allows emergency responders to arrive swiftly and accurately, reducing response times and improving the chances of a positive outcome.
Héctor Manzo Ruvalcaba, head of citizen security, explained that the goal is to make emergency help accessible and straightforward.
Officials stressed that the service is meant solely for real emergencies. Misuse could overload the system and delay assistance for those in urgent need.
With the launch of the Rosarito Smart Button, the local government is reinforcing its commitment to community safety through technology, ensuring help is just a tap away whenever it’s needed most.
