In a forceful show of commitment on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the Playas de Rosarito government has launched a campaign against sexual abuse, placing women’s safety at the center of its public agenda.
Led by Mayor Rocío Adame, the initiative carries the message “A Woman’s Space Is Inviolable: It’s Not Normal, It’s Violence,” urging residents to recognize signs of abuse, speak up, and report incidents through the 079 hotline.
“In Rosarito, we work for women and because of women. Not just with speeches, but with programs, actions, and policies that transform lives,” Adame said, stressing that gender-based violence is an ongoing reality that must be confronted with seriousness, coordination, and close community engagement.
She also framed this moment as historically significant for Baja California and the country, pointing to the unprecedented presence of women in top leadership positions.
“For the first time, Mexico has a woman serving as President; Baja California has a woman as Governor; and Rosarito has a woman as Mayor. This is the time for women, the time to move forward together with strength and determination,” she said.
The Playas de Rosarito government has outlined a comprehensive policy agenda focused on protection, prevention, and empowerment throughout women’s lives. Current programs include:
- Strengthening the Municipal Institute for Women (IMMUJER): A central resource for women experiencing violence, offering legal guidance, psychological counseling, institutional referrals, and social work support.
- “Autonomous Mothers” Program: Providing financial assistance, skills training, and business support for female heads of household.
- Orange Spots and Smart Button System: Designating safe public areas and equipping them with rapid-response technology to assist women facing threats or dangerous situations.
- Community Health and Well-Being Events: Regular health fairs such as Pink Month activities for breast cancer awareness, free screenings, and support services for affected families.

The administration’s efforts were recently amplified by the “Voices for Equality and Against Violence” forum, where women from across the community shared firsthand testimonies and proposals with state and federal authorities.
“The women of Rosarito are strength, inspiration, and transformation. Their voices are essential to continue building public policies that respond to the reality of our communities,” the mayor emphasized.
This local actions align with a broader national effort led by President Claudia Sheinbaum to strengthen support networks and eradicate gender-based violence.
Mayor Rocío Adame concluded with a firm reminder that creating a safe environment is a collective responsibility.
“Violence should never be normalized. Every sign counts, every voice matters, every report saves a life. From the Municipal Government, we will continue working responsibly and with heart to protect the dignity and rights of all women and girls of Rosarito.”
Lastly, she encouraged any woman in need of support to contact the dedicated helpline at 079 for immediate care, guidance, and assistance.
