The Playas de Rosarito government has approved a 2026 expenditure budget of more than 1.26 billion pesos, a plan city officials say will strengthen essential services and expand support for residents.

The budget, introduced by councilwoman Mayra Karina Robles and approved by majority vote during a special session Tuesday, funds 49 programs tied to the city’s development strategy, including public safety, infrastructure, social services, and economic growth.

“This budget is focused on improving daily life in Rosarito — from security and mobility to support for caregivers, students, older adults, and the city workforce,” Mayor Rocío Adame said.

Key Social and Community Programs

The new budget maintains several long-running initiatives, including a 50 percent property tax discount for vulnerable residents, support for rehabilitation centers, water tank distribution, and food assistance programs. Community outreach events and well-being fairs will also continue.

A new Office of Assistance to Indigenous and Afro-Mexican Peoples and Communities will be created to address migrant needs, protect collective rights, and help preserve cultural traditions.

Infrastructure and Public Investment

Three major public investment programs are included:

  • Normal Works Program (PRON 2026): 100 million pesos
  • Participatory Budget 2026: 44 million pesos for projects selected by residents
  • Municipal Social Infrastructure Program: 37.5 million pesos for improvements in underserved neighborhoods, including roadwork, lighting, water access, and urban equipment

Existing initiatives such as Rosarito Limpio, which focuses on waste collection, and the city’s public lighting maintenance program will continue. Additional improvements are planned for delegations such as Primo Tapia and Downtown Rosarito.

Public Safety and Technology

The police department will receive new equipment, including uniforms, ballistic vests, body-worn cameras, and upgraded radio systems. The city will also continue promoting its Botón Inteligente emergency alert tool for rapid citizen assistance.

A new C2 urban monitoring center will be launched to expand video surveillance and improve crime prevention.

Economic Development and New Agencies

The Rosarito Emprende program will continue offering training and support for small businesses, entrepreneurs, and self-employed residents.

The budget also establishes two new municipal departments:

  • Department of Environmental Protection, focused on sustainability and pollution control
  • Department of Culture, tasked with promoting cultural tourism and preserving local arts and traditions

“Responsible financial planning means preparing Rosarito for the years ahead,” Mayor Adame said. “We’re working with transparency and keeping our focus on the people.”

The newly approved 2026 budget underscores the city’s commitment to expanding services and supporting community development across Playas de Rosarito.
