Mayor Rocío Adame has inaugurated Rosarito’s new Municipal Greenhouse, a facility dedicated to expanding green spaces and encouraging community-led environmental care.
Located next to Conchita Cantú Park, the greenhouse is a cornerstone of the city’s broader effort to combat pollution, revitalize public areas, and strengthen urban reforestation. Mayor Adame described the initiative as a long-term investment in the community’s future.

“Planting a tree is an act of sowing life and a direct gesture of love for our home and for the generations to come. This nursery is the physical manifestation of our commitment to preserving and reforesting every park, garden, and green corner of Rosarito,” the mayor stated during the opening ceremony. “
- 150 fruit trees such as lemon, orange, guava, pomegranate, and fig
- 150 shade trees including jacaranda, eucalyptus, and weeping willow
- 80 ornamental plants like maguey and native succulents

The city’s Department of Ecology will oversee operations. The department has already coordinated tree-planting initiatives in parks such as La Mina, Lomas de Rosarito, Benito Juárez, Brayan Efrén, Tonantzin, and Villa Turística, as well as neighborhoods including Colinas del Sol, Misión del Mar II, and Primo Tapia, and several public schools.

The project also represents a symbolic transformation. The site had previously been used as an illegal dumping ground before community members and local authorities joined efforts to restore it.
“This land, which was once used as an illegal dump, is now a productive green space. When the government and the community work together, the results are visible and tangible,” she said.

The inauguration included the symbolic planting of seven trees and the presentation of new uniforms to Parks and Gardens staff, recognizing their work in maintaining Rosarito’s public spaces.
With the greenhouse now in operation, Playas de Rosarito takes a significant step toward a greener and more sustainable future—one where residents play an active role in caring for their city’s environment.
