Mayor Rocío Adame Muñoz of Playas de Rosarito recently led an informational workshop organized in coordination with the Departments of Education and Citizen Security to engage parents and teachers in strengthening school safety, emphasizing that student security is a shared community responsibility. The session brought together school representatives from across the municipality to outline a collaborative strategy.

The workshop provided guidance to members of the Social Participation Councils on developing prevention projects aimed at creating safer school environments and enhancing student learning.

“The future of our children is built today, with our presence. A school must become a true home, and that is only achieved through the joint work of families, authorities, and teachers. Transformation is also built from the classrooms,” Mayor Rocío Adame said.

Officials highlighted significant progress, including a sharp decline in acts of vandalism at local schools—a direct result of the administration’s preventive measures and coordination among the three levels of government.

A key topic of discussion was the promotion of the “Smart Button,” a technological tool that enables rapid responses to emergencies both on and off school grounds. Attendees were encouraged to adopt the system as a critical part of the city’s broader security strategy.

The mayor also linked school safety to wider social issues, calling for ongoing vigilance against domestic violence and violence against women. She stressed that prevention must begin at home and continue within the educational system.

“Our children spend half their lives in school. That is why we must attend meetings, accompany their processes, and foster a culture of respect from the home. Let’s defend the well-being of all citizens, starting with our girls, boys, and young people,” Mayor Rocío Adame said.

Concluding the event, the mayor paid tribute to local teachers, whom she described as “the backbone of any society.”

“The work of a teacher is the most praiseworthy that exists. They are the builders of a great country, that is Mexico. And it is important to remember that teachers are to be respected,” she said.

Through these initiatives, the Government of Playas de Rosarito reaffirms its commitment to making education, safety, and citizen participation the foundational pillars of a stronger community.
