To mark the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, Mayor Rocío Adame led a symbolic ceremony at Rosarito City Hall, reaffirming her administration’s commitment to human rights and the fight against human trafficking.
As part of the event, city employees gathered in the main plaza to form a human blue heart, a global symbol of solidarity in the effort to end trafficking.
In her address, Mayor Adame described human trafficking as one of the most serious violations of freedom and dignity, and stressed the need for ongoing collaboration between civil society, public institutions, and the private sector.

“Lighting up City Hall is a reminder that we will continue to illuminate the path toward a city free from trafficking and grounded in justice for all,” she said.
The ceremony was attended by members of the City Council’s Commission on Human Trafficking, along with representatives from Rosarito’s Women’s Institute, the local DIF, and the Economic Development and Tourism Department, underscoring the city’s cross-sector commitment to addressing this issue.

The event also featured messages from local officials and concluded with the formation of the blue heart, bringing together public servants, community leaders, and residents in a shared call to action.
Human trafficking involves the use of force, deception, or coercion to exploit individuals—most often women, children, and adolescents—for labor or sexual purposes. It remains a serious crime and a violation of human rights, particularly in vulnerable communities.

Addressing this global issue requires a collective response, from public awareness and citizen reporting to strong policy enforcement and prevention strategies.
Under Mayor Adame’s leadership, Rosarito continues to advance efforts to build a safer, more just, and more compassionate city.
