The Rosarito government is stepping up wildfire prevention efforts as fire season approaches. Under the direction of Mayor Rocío Adame, the city’s Civil Protection Department, working alongside the municipal fire department, is carrying out risk-reduction work in forested areas across the city.
Crews are removing dry and dead vegetation in high-risk zones, clearing brush that could fuel fast-moving fires. The goal is to reduce the amount of combustible material on the ground, slow the spread of potential flames, protect natural areas such as oak groves, and create protective buffers between wildlands and nearby neighborhoods.

Officials say clearing built-up plant debris is one of the most effective ways to lower wildfire risk. Removing this material also helps prevent so-called “ladder fuels,” where flames move from low brush into tree canopies, dramatically increasing a fire’s intensity and making it harder to control.
City leaders say the expanded prevention campaign reflects a broader effort to protect residents and preserve Rosarito’s natural landscape ahead of the region’s high-risk fire season.
