Significant strides are being made in a major road rehabilitation project in the Crosthwaite neighborhood, where city crews are working to replace damaged pavement with durable hydraulic concrete. The initiative, prioritized for areas with the worst deterioration, aims to improve safety and mobility for local residents.

The Playas de Rosarito government, led by Mayor Rocío Adame, announced that work is accelerating on multiple streets within the neighborhood. She emphasized that the repairs reflect her administration’s ongoing commitment to modernizing local infrastructure and ensuring the safety of Rosarito families.

“We are moving quickly and with quality to deliver safe, functional, and long-lasting streets. We thank the community for their patience. These improvements are for them and for future generations,” the mayor said.

Crews have completed several preparatory phases in recent days including:

  • Debris removal and material grading, which allowed workers to level areas affected by moisture and deep cavities.
  • The stretch leading to a local gas station has now been stabilized with a new hydraulic base.
  • Tomorrow concrete curbs will be poured, which will help solidify the roadway’s structure.
  • Additional improvements are ongoing on Rosarito Street using base material.
  • Chihuahua Street is receiving subgrade rehabilitation due to severe sinking and damage linked to its clay-heavy soil.

Chihuahua Street, in particular, had become particularly hazardous, with broken pavement, visible depressions, and a growing underground cavity near the gas station that raised concerns about a potential sinkhole. The damage was attributed to aging utility installations and the unstable soil composition. To prevent accidents, the city intervened promptly, and crews are now working extended hours to complete repairs as soon as possible.

The Rosarito government expressed gratitude to residents for their cooperation during construction but also urged the public not to remove or damage safety signage placed around work zones, noting that these markers are essential for protecting both pedestrians and motorists.

The current phase of construction covers the area from Rosarito Street to the “Más Barata” pharmacy where teams are strengthening the roadbed and preparing for the final concrete surface.

Mayor Rocío Adame framed the project as part of a larger effort to overhaul mobility across Playas de Rosarito.

“Our goal is clear: to provide dignified, safe, and lasting roads. We are focused on neighborhoods that have long been overlooked, responding to the real needs of our community,” she said.

Residents are encouraged to follow official municipal channels for updates and to exercise caution when traveling through active construction areas.
