Playas de Rosarito officials have completed repairs to the lighting system at a popular fronton court inside the Ruffo Appel Sports Complex, responding to community requests for better evening visibility. The work was carried out by teams from the Municipal Sports Institute (IMDER), following instructions from Mayor Rocío Adame to improve local sports facilities.

IMDER Director Francisco Carrasco oversaw the repairs, which included replacing malfunctioning lamps and restoring full lighting for nighttime training and recreational use.

The mayor said the upgrades are part of an ongoing effort to keep public sports areas safe and functional.

“Sports build community. Every well-lit and well-maintained space is a place where our children, youth, and families can socialize, develop, and grow with well-being,” Mayor Rocío Adame said.

The lighting project is one piece of a broader maintenance program IMDER is carrying out across more than 25 municipal sports complexes, including resurfacing courts, improving basic services, and upgrading lighting systems.

Officials said the improvements are intended to expand access to recreational spaces, strengthen public safety, and keep community areas in good condition for residents.
