Rosarito’s youth continue to make their mark on the national sports stage, as the local Águilas basketball club delivered a strong performance at the Copa Champagnat tournament held in Tijuana.
The competition, hosted at Instituto México, brought together youth teams from across the region. Representing Playas de Rosarito, the Águilas competed in multiple age divisions and emerged as one of the tournament’s standout programs.
Young athletes from Rosarito participated across several developmental categories, proudly representing their municipality and highlighting the role of basketball in fostering athletic, social, and personal growth from an early age. All participants in the developmental divisions received medals in recognition of their effort and commitment.

In the Cascarón category, the youngest division, all players received commemorative medals for their participation. The Águilas claimed first place in the Premini category, earned third place in the Mini Varonil (boys) division, and also finished third in the Pasarela Femenil (girls) 2011–2012 category.
The Municipal Sports Institute of Playas de Rosarito (IMDER) congratulated the athletes, their families, and coaching staff for their work in promoting basketball as a foundation for discipline, teamwork, and character development.

IMDER noted that these efforts align with Mayor Rocío Adame’s vision of strengthening access to sports and physical activity for residents of all ages, with a particular focus on children. The initiative aims to encourage healthy lifestyles, positive community engagement, and alternatives to harmful behaviors.
Officials emphasized that sports not only build physical strength but also create positive environments that contribute to social development from an early age.
