Three Mexican citizens whose car was bumped off the Ensenada Highway in Tijuana Tuesday morning were injured when their vehicle went over an embankment , fell 40 feet and landed on the U.S. side of the border near San Ysidro.

Border Patrol dispatchers viewed the accident via remote video surveillance, which happened about two miles west of the San Ysidro Port of Entry, and sent agents and members of the National Guard working nearby to provide first aid to the injured.

Two passengers, a man and a woman in their mid 20s, suffered moderate to severe injuries. The driver of the sedan, a 44-year-old man, did not sustain injuries, said Border Patrol spokesman Rodolfo Zuniga.

San Diego Fire and Rescue transported the injured passengers to a local hospital for treatment.
