Mayor Rocío Adame launched the “Safe December” operation on Wednesday, a core part of Baja California’s broader Christmas Security Plan designed to protect residents and visitors throughout the holiday season.
The effort, coordinated with state and federal agencies, aims to increase police presence and expand preventive measures across the coastal city of Playas de Rosarito. With tourism and commercial activity expected to rise in December, Adame underscored the need for consistent, visible law enforcement.

“We are committed to providing peace of mind to Rosarito families and those who visit us. This operation reinforces surveillance in commercial areas, highways, parks, churches, and tourist zones. We want everyone to enjoy the holidays in a safe municipality,” the mayor said.
The strategy builds on weekly Security Roundtable sessions where local authorities assess public-safety trends and map out targeted responses. Planned actions include frequent patrols, checkpoints, community-engagement efforts, and staff dedicated to assisting both residents and tourists.

Adame also urged the public to take basic precautions during celebrations, noting that fireworks and irresponsible alcohol use can put children, pets, and homes at risk.
“Caring for our people also means being responsible for what we do during celebrations. Fireworks and irresponsible alcohol consumption can lead to accidents. We urge citizens to act prudently and protect their families,” she said.
With holiday travel expected to pick up, Adame said Rosarito is prepared for the seasonal influx.

“Whether you’re reuniting with family or here to enjoy our beaches, you can expect a safe and welcoming atmosphere. We are working across all levels of government to protect everyone in our streets,” she said.
