San Diego is getting ready for one of its most beloved traditions: Valley Center Western Days. The celebration honors the region’s Old West heritage and brings the entire community together in a family-friendly atmosphere. This year’s event is scheduled for May 22 and 23, 2026, along Lilac Road in Valley Center.
Tradition, Rodeo, and Fun For All Ages
With more than seven decades of history behind it, the festival has been a local tradition since 1950. Over the course of two days, attendees can enjoy a parade, the classic “Stampede” rodeo, live music, and a variety of activities designed for all ages.
Other highlights include a community breakfast organized by 4H and a recreational 5K run.
Western Days festivities also extend beyond the main weekend. Additional events such as the “Guns and Hoses” chili cook-off and a classic car show add even more culture and tradition to the experience.
For those seeking something different to do over the weekend, Valley Center Western Days is an excellent choice. With its cowboy atmosphere, outdoor entertainment, and activities for everyone, it’s the perfect plan for a day out with family or friends.
