There are only 4 days left until the Olympics are over, but San Diegans that are part of the U.S. delegation in Rio de Janeiro can feel very proud of what they have achieved, for there’s already five medals in their possession.



While our neighbors south of the border are holding their breath for just one medal, the U.S. delegation has won 86 medals total, 28 gold, the undisputed leader in the medal table so far, with Great Britain in second and China third.



Here’s a list of these winning competitors from San Diego:







1.- Sarah Hammer

Sarah Hammer won two silver medals in track cycling. She made a time of 3:26.98 in the individual category, and remained in second place in the team round.



2.- Steffen Peters

Peters ended up taking the bronze in equestrian riding within the category of training by teams in the Grand Prix Special.



3.- Jennifer Valente

Jennifer won the silver medal in track cycling, just like Hammer. The category was team pursuit. Britain took the Gold.



4.- Caleb Pain

Paine won bronze medal in sailing in men’s Finn category. He beat Giles Scott of UK and Jorge Zariff Brazil, second and third place respectively.



These were the winning San Diegans, but there’s still hope for other Californians that are waiting for the possibility of bringing the gold back home.
