European inspiration, blended with the essence of Mexico, has given rise to a new destination in Valle de Guadalupe. Sassi del Valle—an artisanal project that supports local talent while combining tourism, commerce, and residential living—will be coming to Valle de Guadalupe to boost tourism. This space will welcome thousands of locals and visitors eager to experience the best of Baja California’s tourism, gastronomy, and winemaking culture.

At Kilómetro 58 of the Tecate-Ensenada free highway, you will find Sassi del Valle—a place that captures the soul of ancient Italian missions and reinterprets them with Mexican flair. Its majestic stone facades evoke Matera, Italy, transporting guests to the elegance of Europe without leaving the heart of Valle de Guadalupe. Every detail has been crafted by Mexican hands, celebrating local talent and bringing to life a space where tradition, art, and beauty intertwine to offer a unique experience.

This past Friday, May 2, progress on this grand project was unveiled, showcasing a completed central plaza with timeless stone architecture reminiscent of old Italy. Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda witnessed this milestone and emphasized that projects like Sassi del Valle not only enrich the state’s tourism offerings but also boost the local economy and create new jobs.

“This is a city taking shape in Valle de Guadalupe. Soon, this plaza will be filled with life—tourists, locals, and visitors from around the world—because Mexico is in vogue right now,” the governor stated.

This new destination is poised to become a gathering place for locals, foreigners, and families seeking the best of Baja California’s culture, cuisine, wines, and warm, authentic spirit.

Adolfo Blanco, president and founder of Reinos de México, the group leading this ambitious initiative, shared with San Diego Red that the development will offer countless activities for visitors once completed. Sassi del Valle is expected to open its doors by late 2025.

“Like any great town, this will have it all—including the magnificent horses here today. One of our key investments is the Sassi equestrian center, which will host all kinds of equestrian events. But there will also be conventional sports like soccer. It won’t just be a hub for dining, bars, or overnight stays,” Adolfo Blanco explained.

Meanwhile, Baja California’s Secretary of Tourism Miguel Ángel Aguíñiga highlighted that projects like Sassi del Valle contribute significantly to the state’s development by promoting tourism, energizing the regional economy, and positioning Baja California as a world-class destination.

“I congratulate everyone involved in this project. Investment and care to protect our valley, our Baja California, will always be welcome. This week alone, they’ve hosted numerous events, showcasing Valle de Guadalupe’s growth to Mexico and the world. Welcome to Baja California! We can’t leave without saying: Welcome to Baja California, Welcome to Sassi del Valle, Welcome to Valle de Guadalupe, and Welcome to Ensenada!” Miguel Ángel Aguíñiga said.

With a vision that merges European charm with the heart of Mexico, Sassi del Valle will be an unparalleled destination in Valle de Guadalupe. It is linked to Val’Quirico in Tlaxcala—the first “Reino” (Kingdom) of this project—sharing its mission to foster communities through circular economies and artisanal architectural design.

The official opening is set for late 2025. Sassi del Valle is planning to establish around 200 villas; currently, only four have been built in its plaza, hinting at the vast scale of what’s to come. A development where architecture, culture, wine, and tradition converge to create a one-of-a-kind space celebrating the best of Europe and Mexico in a single location.
