TIJUANA – This Friday at noon, Carolina Aubanel Riedel, successfully registered herself as a Tijuana mayoral candidate at the National Electoral Institute's headquarters in Mexicali.



Aubanel, owner of the local television network Síntesis, was joined by her campaign team, who have 40 days to gather enough signatures from Tijuana residents in order to run for office as an independent starting this Sunday.

This happened a day before the registration deadline for citizens with an interest in running for the Tijuana mayoral office as an independent candidate. January 16 is the last day non-partisan citizens have to register at the National Electoral Institute headquarters in Mexicali, Baja California’s capital, from 10 am to midnight.



The list of independent candidates will be published this Sunday, January 17.
