A coordinated security initiative led by Mayor Rocío Adame has produced significant results, with reported crimes in Playas de Rosarito dropping by more than half during the first week of October, according to data released during the latest Security Roundtable, which brought together representatives from all three levels of government, including the Secretariat of Citizen Security, the Secretariat of the Navy, the Secretariat of National Defense, the National Guard, the State Attorney General’s Office, the State Investigation Agency, the State Citizen Security Force, and the C5 Playas de Rosarito.
The comprehensive security strategy, implemented from October 2 to October 8, saw criminal reports plummet from 22 in the previous week to just 10, representing one of the most substantial single-week crime reductions recently recorded in the municipality.
The security operation featured intensified preventive patrols targeting high-incidence neighborhoods and school zones during peak arrival and dismissal times. This focused approach yielded the following results:
- An 85% reduction in reports on firearm discharges
- 40% decrease in non-violent vehicle theft
- 100% drop of violent street robberies
“The continued presence of security authorities on our streets is delivering tangible results. It is thanks to this that we are now seeing a reduction in reported crimes. Our fundamental mission is ensuring citizen safety, and these numbers demonstrate our daily work is producing positive outcomes,” the mayor said.
Law enforcement efforts during the same period resulted in 11 individuals being handed over to the State Attorney General’s Office for various crimes, primarily involving illegal entry and drug-related offenses. Authorities also addressed cases of domestic violence, attempted vehicle theft, and property damage, while recovering two stolen vehicles.
Lastly, the mayor reiterated her call for citizens to report any crime or suspicious activity to jointly strengthen crime prevention and combat efforts.
The 10th City Hall of Playas de Rosarito has reaffirmed its dedication to implementing coordinated security strategies that prioritize the well-being of all residents throughout the municipality.
