Tijuana City Hall, led by Mayor Ismael Burgueño, has responded to the collapse of a retaining wall that caused a massive sinkhole at the intersection of Avenida Revolución and Calle 10 in the city’s downtown area.
According to José Luis Jiménez González, Director of Civil Protection, authorities received the report at around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Upon arrival, personnel confirmed that the damage affected approximately 90 meters of roadway.

Jiménez González stated that no injuries were reported. However, gas and water leaks were detected and promptly brought under control by the Tijuana Fire Department and the State Public Services Commission of Tijuana (CESPT). Two Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) poles carrying 13,200-volt power lines were also damaged but were quickly secured by CFE crews.

City authorities have announced that Juan Sarabia Street (Calle 10), from Avenida Constitución to Madero Street, will remain closed to vehicular traffic until further notice, though pedestrian access will be allowed in designated areas.
The Tijuana government urges residents who frequently travel through the area to use alternate routes to facilitate repair work and help prevent accidents that could put lives at risk.
