Baja California maintains declining COVID-19 trends, however the Easter holiday period, which corresponds to March 28th to April 4th, may bring with it an agglomeration of people in different places, causing an increase of cases.
"Starting the following week when Easter Week begins and the massive agglomerations start, we have to monitor from 10 to 14 days because the number of cases can begin to rise," said the head of the Secretariat of Health, Alonso Perez Rico.
So far, the cases that remain active in the state are 280, of which 123 are located in Mexicali, 98 in Tijuana, 27 in Ensenada, 19 in San Quintin, seven in Rosarito, five in Tecate and one in San Felipe.
"We have to take care of our well-being and the only way to do so is to continue protecting ourselves," said Perez Rico, who urged people to use masks, keep a social distance, avoid crowded places and wash their hands continuously.
So far in the pandemic, 44 thousand 572 Baja Californians have tested positive for COVID-19, while 7 thousand 662 lost their lives.
"We have a super opportunity right now not to fall into the third wave like the Europeans, we have everything to take care of ourselves," said the secretary.
