The Birch Aquarium at Scripps will transform into an immersive, adult-only bioluminescent world later this month for the return of its popular “Oceans at Night” series.
The nighttime event of the year, titled “Oceans at Night: Aquanauts,” is scheduled for Thursday, January 29, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The evening is designed exclusively for guests aged 21 and over, offering a sophisticated blend of marine science and after-hours ambiance.
Held at the aquarium’s facility at 2300 Expedition Way, the program invites participants to step into the role of underwater explorers. Guests will have the rare opportunity to learn about ocean science directly from Scripps Oceanography specialists, discover how deep-sea research is conducted, and explore a simulated underwater research station.

The evening will also feature ambient music, adult beverages available for purchase, and touring of the aquarium’s exhibits outside of regular public hours. This combination aims to create a memorable night of entertainment, socializing, and marine discovery.
Tickets for “Oceans at Night: Aquanauts” are now on sale to the general public. Due to limited capacity and the high demand historically generated by these exclusive events, it is strongly recommended to secure tickets in advance.
