Authorities recently carried out an inspection along Desarrollo Urbano Street in Ejido Matamoros—part of the La Presa Abelardo L. Rodríguez delegation—to oversee the cleaning of a storm drain as part of the “Tijuana: Clean City” program, promoted by Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz.

During the inspection, progress was confirmed in the dredging work, which involves removing approximately 720 cubic meters of waste, including household garbage, sand, and soil. The cleaning covers a 115-meter stretch of the drain, using specialized machinery such as a backhoe and a dump truck, and benefits around 15,000 residents in the area.

This effort is part of the first phase of the “Tijuana: Clean City: Infrastructure and Equipment at the Service of the Community” program, through which municipal delegations have 24/7 operational equipment, continuously running machinery, work tailored to each community’s specific needs, and trained and certified operators.

For Mayor Burgueño’s administration, promoting projects that improve citizens’ quality of life is a top priority, especially in areas that have lacked efficient public services for years. As such, efforts will continue to make Tijuana a more accessible and orderly city with adequate services for all.

The supervision team included: Virginia Vargas González, Secretary of Territorial, Urban, and Environmental Development; Councilor Magaly Ronquillo Palacios; Adriana Barrera, Acting Head of the Delegation Coordination; and Gabriela Ponce Velázquez, Acting Head of the La Presa Abelardo L. Rodríguez Delegation, all of whom listened directly to residents’ concerns and needs.

The “Tijuana: Clean City” program moves forward with a comprehensive vision aimed at strengthening urban infrastructure and improving public services across all municipal delegations.
