At the direction of Tijuana Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz, the Inspection and Verification Office conducted an operation to regulate street vending in the city’s downtown area—part of an ongoing effort to enforce municipal regulations.
José Antonio Olivas Heredia, Director of the Inspection and Verification Office, stated that the inspections are intended to ensure vendors possess the appropriate permits and operate strictly within authorized zones. Those who fail to comply are subject to relocation or removal.

Olivas Heredia reported that recent inspections covered streets First through Sixth, including Avenida Revolución, Constitución, and Niños Héroes in Downtown Tijuana.
As a result of this operation: 150 vendors were inspected, 30 were removed, and 40 were relocated. Additionally, officials checked safety, hygiene, and food-handling standards for vendors selling food products.

José Antonio Olivas Heredia highlighted that these efforts have improved pedestrian flow in the heavily trafficked downtown area, ensuring public spaces remain orderly and safe for both residents and visitors.
Lastly, he added that these inspections also help strengthen communication between authorities and vendors, a key priority of the current municipal administration.
