To avoid tragic accidents in this Halloween season, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department will coordinate the "Take the party of the road "operation, with the purpose to avoid car accidents. This is because around this time of the year, especially Halloween, are some of the most deadly nights of the year because of alcohol and drugs incidents. It is estimated that on trick or treat night around 48% of accidents are cause by these effects.
This will continue daily until November 4th, the security on the streets will increase and also on the highways. On Saturday October 27th a checkpoint will be set in the SDSU area.
To prevent having problems with the law and risking your life and the community it is very important to follow these simple steps:
Plan a safe route home, before the party begins.
If you find a drunk driver on the road, do not doubt about reporting it to the police by dialing 911.
If you are not ok to drive, call a taxi, call a sober friend or family member or as a last resource use public transportation.
Before drinking do not forget to designate a driver who will not drink alcohol that night.
Remember, Friends Don't Let Friends Drive Drunk. If you know someone who is about to drive after they were out partying, take their keys and help them make other arrangements to get them home safe.
