Román Cota Listens to Tecate Residents
Committed to maintaining a government close to the people, Mayor Román Cota Muñoz holds a Citizen Wednesday event every week, where he has directly listened to thousands of residents who share requests, concerns, and proposals.
From early morning, residents gather at the meeting point to take the opportunity to speak personally with the Mayor and with the heads of different municipal departments, who are present to provide immediate attention to citizen concerns.
During these sessions, the most common requests involve public services, safety, infrastructure, social assistance, and community development programs, proving that this space has become an effective tool to strengthen the connection between government and society.

Mayor Cota emphasized the importance of these meetings, stating that “a tight-knit government isn’t built from an office, but out in the streets, face to face with the people—listening to their needs and working together on real solutions.”
In this way, the Government of Tecate reaffirms its commitment to continue promoting mechanisms for citizen participation that help improve the quality of life for everyone.
Reforms to Parking Regulations
The City Council of Tecate’s 25th Administration, headed by Mayor Román Cota Muñoz, approved a reform to the Municipal Construction Code, establishing new provisions to regulate parking lots in shopping centers. These include a mandatory 40 minutes of free parking for users and the requirement to provide insurance against theft and vehicle damage. These measures aim to protect citizens and ensure greater reliability in public services.
The Council also approved regulations establishing how the Council for Peace and Civic Justice of Tecate will operate, providing a framework to promote a culture of peace and resolve community conflicts.

In matters of youth and sports, reforms were approved to establish both the Municipal Youth Award and the Municipal Sports Award, recognizing and encouraging the talent, social commitment, and achievements of Tecate’s young residents and athletes.
Additionally, the Council authorized budget reallocations to the Municipal Auditor’s Office, the City Ministry, and the Municipal Institute for Women, with the goal of strengthening their administrative functions and operational capacity.
Finally, the Council passed a proposal by Councilmember María Quijada to implement training programs for public servants on children’s rights, aiming to advance toward a more sensitive and child-focused local administration.
Through these decisions, the Government of Tecate continues to build a fairer, safer city with greater opportunities for all.
