MEXICO.- Among the different parties Mexico has, there's the Green Party, alleged to be all about ecology, this party is currently under the limelight of the country, but for all the wrong reasons. A lot has been said regarding the multiple violations towards electoral law that have culminated in historical punishments against the party. (There is still plenty to be said)

The Guardian, one the United Kingdom and for that matter the world's most important media, is no newbie when it comes to a Mexican Politics controversy, given that is was them who accused PRI's presidential candidate at the moment, Enrique Peña Nieto, of being just another product of Televisa.

Now, The Guardian has showed just how "green" Mexico's Green Party actually is, starting with their support of death penalty, alleged corruption and the power a single family has over it.

The article quotes Jorge Alcocer, who calls its members "false greens" that have caused major damage to the party political system, the electoral authorities and democracy, which is why he thinks

the "PVEM registry should be cancelled, unless someone, once again, reinstates that law has become worthless, given that popular vote has the power of punishing a rouge party.

Activists in favor of the environment such as the spokesperson for Greenpeace Mexico added to the article by accusing the Green Party of only supporting sporadic measures against the use of circus animals.

"Surely, the party's biggest personalities have shown very little interest regarding environmental subjects, being known for their involvement on several scandals," commented Jo Tuckman on an article written for the newspaper.

"The Greens concentrate the bad elements of Mexican politics and take them to an extreme," mentioned political analyst Jesús Silva Herzog. "There are sinister figures in all the big parties, but there are some respectable ones, too. I cannot think of a single respectable figure in the Green Party."

For those who are unaware of what it really means to be "green" around the world, aside from being environmentalists they are also:

Pro death penalty and social justice policies,
Against violence, strictly committed to socially peaceful movements
Against agribusiness in general
And pro diversity, feminism and LGBT policies

Overall, as you can a see the Green Party has very little to do with the rest of the world's green parties, The Guardian sums up their strategy as one where they "offer apparently easy solutions to really big problems, which rarely have anything to do with environmental issues," they also mentioned that the Green Party and PRI's strategy is to saturate the media enough in order to obtain at leads 10% of the votes, giving the PRI Congress sufficient allies to keep ruling. Otherwise, President Peña Nieto's party will be reduced to a minimum during the next Congress, leaving him useless for the rest of his term.

A petition for the elimination of this party's registry on Charge.org has already gathered over 122,000 signatures, and even though a petition made on Charge.org could hardly be taken serious by the National Electoral Institute (INE) in order to be taken off the registry, this is just a sample of the citizen's increasing unconformity towards the Green Party's excessive propaganda.

The petition reads:

"Mexico's Green Party has surpassed its limits. In a matter of weeks they have been charged with fines of over $180,000,000 pesos, have refused to obey the solutions of electoral authority and have even fail to fulfill the environmental norms of their campaign.

As citizens, why should we tolerate this? I ask that we unite our voices to demand that the National Electoral Institute removes the registry of this party once and for all.

The amount of illegal practices the Green Party has incurred in are of great magnitude. Here you can see a list of all of them. On April 9th, they were punished with their 11th fine: they is no doubt that the violations towards the Political Constitution of the United Mexican States and electoral normatively, are severe and systematic. The Federal Electoral Court has already classified them as severe: whether or not they are systematic, you just need to look at the 10 other fines.

Asking to remove the Green Party's registry is only demanding to comply with what the Political Parties Law has established. Here you can see all the legal fundaments of this request. Law is on our side."

Furthermore, the analysis of political scientist such as Denise Dresser and other country authors, on how the Green Party is just a crutch for PRI, feeding up the citizens with publicity of their "ecological" ally in exchange of not receiving the majority of attacks from other parties.

The Guardian describes the Green Party's situation as an ally of "PRI who has very little to say regarding deforestation and climate change towards critics who are calling them a family company 'on the verge of organized crime'.
