This summer, the San Diego Natural History Museum (The Nat) invites visitors of all ages to experience an unforgettable season of discovery and fun. Under the theme “Summer of Wonder”, the museum will host its largest exhibition in years, alongside a full lineup of activities for families. Expect movie screenings, special events, stunning rooftop views on weekends, and hands-on workshops designed especially for kids.
Summer of Wonder: Daily Fun for All Ages
From August 19 through September 1, 2025, Summer of Wonder transforms the museum into a hub of family-friendly activities. Every weekend brings something new to explore: close encounters with birds of prey, sketching sessions in the galleries, creative projects in the Nature Studio, and lively storytime readings for children.
But be careful: just like the natural world itself, the calendar is always changing, so visitors are encouraged to check the updated schedule before arriving.

Nat at Night
As part of the summer programming, the museum presents Nat at Night, a special evening event that lets guests experience The Nat after hours. On Friday, August 22, 2025, from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m., visitors can explore all five floors of the museum, including the new “Amazement in the Basement” exhibition. The evening also features rooftop dining and drinks, and a festive TGIF atmosphere. Admission is half price during the event, making it the perfect way to start the weekend.
