If you love fall and Halloween is one of your favorite celebrations, mark your calendar. The Pacific Southwest Railway Museum Association has announced the return of its popular Pumpkin Express Halloween Celebration, kicking off October 4.

A Festive Train Ride Through San Diego’s Countryside

The event runs weekends, October 4–26, 2025, departing from the historic Campo Depot (750 Depot St., Campo, CA). Families will ride in vintage railcars decorated for the season while taking in some of San Diego’s most scenic views.

After the ride, passengers can explore a pumpkin-decorating area, Halloween displays, and haunted train cars. Children’s tickets include a pumpkin, with extras available for $10 each. Costumes are encouraged for riders of all ages.

For adults looking for something different, the museum is introducing the Sip and Scare Sunset Special, a spooky-themed evening train offered Saturdays at 6:00 p.m.
