ENSENADA.- The State Government, through the Department for Labor and Social Security, has began to place different actions in motion with the purpose of applying programs that contemplate the rules and conditions that guarantee the defense of labour rights, complying in that manner with the Federal Labor Law.

Regarding the subject, the State Secretary for Labor and Social Security, Juana Laura Pérez Floriano, said that, through these programs and applied by her agency, an timely review of the conditions of work places is being made, while at the same time, Governor Francisco "Kiko" Vega de Lamadrid has instructed his cabinet with assuring the rights of the workers are being respected.

The State official commented that during the program's regular inspection of labor standards, there were also worker rights reviews carried out in fields and farms around the state, amounting to more than sixty five inspections of their kind, same which have lead to fines and penalties, with many other positive outcomes as a result of the 2,500 inspection visits to business in Ensenada.

Another example of the work that is being made under the same outline, is the certification program called Empresa Segura (Safe Business), benefiting over 16,000 workers from approximately 95 companies, who have received recommendations on matters of security, hygiene and counseling in order to achieve their certification as a "safe business."

She pointed out that, regarding the lessons imparted on labor justice, Ensenada already has new courtrooms for oral hearings and trails for labor rights, already handling about four or five hearings a day, helping their communities improve safety and well-being in their work centers.

Finally, Pérez Floriano explained that some of the other objectives of the Labor and Social Security department is to assist the citizens with finding employment through a "job bank" coordinated by the National Employment Service, which is available to all Ensenada residents through their offices located on Adolfo López Mateos Boulevard, 2228-3 Fracc. Playa Ensenada and in San Quintin in de State Government Building.
