CNN Mexico announced that the United Nations will support the Federal Electoral Institute (IFE) and the Electoral Court (TEPJF) to monitor the elections on July 1st, where they will elect the next president of Mexico.
Citizen movements had expressed to the United Nations their fear of a fraud or violence taking place in the elections.
Maria del Carmen Sacasa, representative of the UNDP (United Nations Program for Development) said that any Mexican citizen can submit a complaint through the site "Arena Electoral" to canalize it to the appropriate authority.
IFE stated that more than 196 foreigners will arrive from 40 different countries to work as election observers.
Sacasa said in a press conference that the "Support Fund for Electoral Observation 2012", had a cost of nearly six million dollars, funds provided by UNDP, IFE, and the Electoral Court.
The Arena Electoral representative, Alfonsina Peñaloza, pointed out that the site had enough security to ensure that the mailbox will be used properly.
