Active COVID-19 cases showed a decrease this Thursday, going from 970 to 938 in Baja California. At the same time, occupancy in the seven hospitals that treat this disease in the state has decreased, after being 44.70% until yesterday morning, reporting 522 beds and 165 ventilators available in general.

Specifically, the hospitals belonging to the Secretariat of Health have 57 intubated patients and 179 beds occupied by people with coronavirus, and have 181 beds available.

On the other hand, the hospitals of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) have 56 patients with automated mechanical ventilation and 237 patients hospitalized due to COVID-19. Having so far 341 beds available.

"New trend, new record. We have more free beds available than patients hospitalized [yesterday] in Baja California," said Pérez Rico, and added, "we are much closer to moving to a safe coloration than staying in the same one. We are closer for the federal government to give us the indicators to go to yellow than to go back to red, right now we are still in red, if we go to yellow at the federal level, it is the decision of the chief executive here in the state to transition from red to orange, but we are going to do it gradually and slowly, we have the opportunity to do it but let's continue with these tendencies".

According to him, the number of intubated patients decreased to 118 in the state, compared to 176 a month ago. Furthermore, according to the Effective Reproduction Rate (ER) indicator, which is at 0.75, a person with COVID-19 can infect another person in the state. But it is worth mentioning that in San Felipe this indicator is at 1.23, so there one person who tested positive can infect two more.

So far in the pandemic, Baja California has accumulated 41 thousand 318 positive cases of COVID-19, most of them registered in Mexicali, totaling 15 thousand 915 of this total. Unfortunately, 6 thousand 791 Baja Californians have also lost their lives to this disease, of which 3 thousand and 28 occurred in Tijuana.
