According to the report presented this Friday morning by the Secretary of Health of Baja California, Alonso Pérez Rico, the state continues with a not very encouraging panorama in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. To date, there are 974 active cases in the state, most of which continue to be found in Mexicali (444), Tijuana (227) and Ensenada (183).

The increase in these transmission chains has caused the region to add 28 thousand 161 positive cases, of which 12 thousand 234 are from Mexicali (47 new cases), 9 thousand 122 from Tijuana (80), 3 thousand 974 from Ensenada (64), 999 from San Quintín (17), 927 from Tecate (2), 534 from Rosarito (16) and 371 from San Felipe. "Today the federal government's indicators are released. We will remain in the red, we still do not break the positive trend and we will continue in the red," indicated the Secretary of Health.

On the other hand, the patients who have lost the battle for coronavirus in Baja California are 4 thousand 561, reporting Tijuana 10 new deaths, adding up to one thousand 955; Mexicali one thousand 883 (18 new), Ensenada 525 (5), Tecate 149, Rosarito 26, San Quintín 21 and San Felipe two.

In addition, the patients currently hospitalized for coronavirus in the state are 448 and 190 intubated, while the hospital occupation is 64.31 percent, according to Pérez Rico.

"We have to break this curve. And this is what I meant when I said: let's make a challenge, two to three weeks of everyone doing things right, of everyone taking care of themselves, of everyone staying at home, to break this trend; two to three weeks to return to orange, two to three weeks to reactivate our economy, our welfare, two to three weeks of giving health to our state. It does not cost us anything, two to three weeks to start the year in orange, otherwise, I insist, we will be in red for two or three months".

And although at least 22 thousand 311 Baja Californians recovered from COVID-19, the Secretary added: "All these patients are at risk of becoming sick again, of becoming re-infected. The fact that once we've had COVID doesn't make us immune, reinfection is real, take care of yourselves''.
