Recent polling data continues to position Ismael Burgueño Ruiz as the leading internal candidate for Morena’s gubernatorial nomination in Baja California. The studies conducted by Enkoll, Question Mark for El Heraldo de México, and Demoscopía Digital each highlight, through varying indicators, the sustained strength of the Tijuana mayor, who is currently on leave from office.

In the Enkoll survey, published by El Universal, Burgueño achieved a perfect score of 10 points in a comprehensive evaluation of candidate profiles. The assessment took into account multiple factors, including knowledge of the state, favorability, perceived closeness to voters, honesty, track record, overall candidate viability, and voter willingness to support him. Additionally, the poll showed him with 33% effective preference within Morena’s internal process and a 64% job approval rating from Tijuana residents.

Meanwhile, the Question Mark survey for El Heraldo de México also places Burgueño ahead within the broader Morena-PT-PVEM coalition, registering 22% internal preference. In a head-to-head electoral matchup, he garners 41% of voter intention, while Morena as a party commands 51.3% support across Baja California.

Demoscopía Digital’s August 4 measurement gives Burgueño 30.9% in internal preferences and 40.7% in a multi-party competition scenario, keeping him firmly ahead of other potential contenders in both metrics.

Though each firm applies its own methodological framework, the three polls converge on a clear consensus: Ismael Burgueño emerges as the most formidable figure within Morena in Baja California, combining strong internal backing, broad citizen recognition, favorable personal attributes, and solid electoral viability. These findings come as the party is about to select its candidate for the 2027 Baja California gubernatorial race.
