Upholding Tijuana Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz’s promise to protect animals and guarantee proper care, local authorities shut down a business that was illegally selling animals under poor conditions. The closure was carried out by the city’s Inspection and Verification Department.
Department head José Antonio Olivas Heredia stated that, following a citizen complaint and support through social media, officials located the business, Pet Land, which lacked the permits required for legal operation.

During the inspection, the business owner reacted aggressively, forcing officials to request support from the local Department of Public Safety and Citizen Protection to protect their staff and continue the investigation safely.
Inspectors discovered two puppies confined in a cramped cage that severely limited their movement. The business was immediately shut down, and the animals were placed in protective care to ensure their well-being.

The government of Tijuana remains firmly committed to animal welfare, pledging to always act in the best interest of all creatures.
