Currently, Hurricane Hilary is at Category 2 and has maintained its path towards the north-northwest at 26 km/hr, and it is expected that it accelerates as it moves along Baja California.
It is expected that Hilary makes an impact, for the first time, Punta Eugenia surroundings in Baja California as well as Isla Natividad and Cedros on Sunday early morning.

When will rain reach Tijuana?
According to Civil Protection, rain should reach the city between 8 PM and 10 PM on Saturday, August 19. However, the most intense rains are expected on Sunday, August 20.
Though the effects of Hilary could reach the state as a tropical storm, this doesn't diminish the danger, due to the strong gusts of wind that could reach up to 70 km/hr as well as 3 inches of water.
Have an emergency backpack on hand
Civil Protection of Tijuana recommends that it is extremely important to have an emergency backpack with utensils and self-protection materials to communicate and supply oneself during an emergency.
Among the objects that are recommended there are: lighter or matches, whistle, raincoat, personal hygiene items, cash, gloves, first aid kit, multi utility knife, drinking water, and non-perishable food to last 72 hours, among others.
