The Tijuana government has launched 43 new garbage collection routes in the Sánchez Taboada delegation, an expansion set to benefit 9,902 households.
The initiative, announced by Mayor Ismael Burgueño’s administration, is part of an ongoing effort to enhance waste management services across the city. The new routes will allow for the collection of an additional 301 tons of garbage per week, a boost expected to positively impact public health, urban cleanliness, and environmental sustainability.
In the Sánchez Taboada delegation, the neighborhoods benefiting from expanded routes and collection days are as follows:
- El Valle: Two new routes on Wednesdays
- Arboledas (Fracc. García): One new route on Fridays
- Colinas de la Presa: Twelve new routes from Monday to Friday
- Hacienda Acueducto: Three new routes on Tuesdays
- Condominios 18 de Marzo: One new route on Mondays
- Residente Hernán Cortez: One new route on Mondays
- Colinas de California: Eighteen new routes from Monday to Friday
- Barcelona Residencial: Five new routes on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays
The deployment was made possible by adding 129 new collection vehicles to the city’s Sanitation Sub-Directorate fleet. This increased capacity allowed the city to redesign its service coverage and finally address long-standing requests for reliable trash collection from residents in several neighborhoods.
The local government framed the expansion as a key part of its commitment to efficient, citizen-focused public services, signaling a step toward a cleaner, more orderly Tijuana with better living conditions for all residents.
