Residents of Tijuana should brace for a wet and windy end to the year, as meteorologists predict showers are expected to continue this week, threatening to disrupt New Year’s Eve festivities and usher in 2026 with further precipitation.
More Showers Forecasted
According to the meteorological site Meteored, the current spell of rain, which began earlier this week, is now projected to last through Saturday, December 27, carrying an 80% chance of precipitation.
This extends a pattern of holiday downpours already forecast for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and December 26. Rainfall during this period is estimated to range from 1.1 to 22 millimeters per square meter, with the heaviest accumulations expected on Wednesday.

Furthermore, the wet weather is predicted to make a return for the New Year with a 70% probability of additional rain on January 1 and 2, 2026.

The National Meteorological Service attributes this active weather pattern to a combination of factors: troughs in the mid- and upper-level atmosphere, significant moisture flowing from both oceans, interactions between polar and subtropical jet streams, and an approaching cold front from the northwest of Mexico.
In addition, Baja California is experiencing powerful winds of 30 to 40 km/h, with gusts reaching 50 to 70 km/h. In Tijuana specifically, these high winds have already downed power lines, leading to electricity outages across several neighborhoods.
