Tijuana’s Insurgente Brewery climbed the podium at this year’s World Beer Cup, becoming the only Mexican brewery to win at the 2025 edition of this elite global competition, which is often referred to as the “Beer Olympics.”

Their Drágula oatmeal stout, already an award-winner in other competitions, took home the bronze medal, ranking just behind U.S. breweries Earth Rider Brewery and StormBreaker Brewing, but ahead of 45 other beers aiming for the coveted prizes.

Held annually since 1996 in Colorado, USA, the World Beer Cup featured 8,375 beers from over 50 countries, competing across 100+ categories. Only 334 beers and ciders earned gold, silver, or bronze medals, judged by a panel of 200 international experts assembled by the Brewers Association to crown the world’s finest brews.

This milestone comes as Insurgente celebrates its 15th anniversary, marking the occasion with a special release of 15 collectible cans. The win cements their place among the elite few Mexican breweries ever honored at this competition, further solidifying their status as a favorite among Mexican craft beer lovers.
