Tijuana-based businessman and Director of the Baja California School of Business (ENBC), Gustavo Fernández de León, unveiled the AI: Business Future course on Tuesday, August 12, during a COPARMEX breakfast where artificial intelligence was the main focus.
During the keynote conference (delivered by Andrés Ponce de León), Fernández de León—author of School is Useless if You Don’t Have a Purpose—emphasized that artificial intelligence is not a minor issue but one of urgency, especially for companies and entrepreneurs. He stressed that business owners and decision-makers must understand how AI works, what it is, and how it will completely transform business as we know it.
Speaking with the media, he also addressed who might be most at risk by ignoring this technological shift:
“Frankly, those who don’t want to get involved and don’t want to understand anything at all may indeed run the risk of becoming obsolete,” Fernández de León stated. “Baja California has always been dynamic in adopting new technologies compared to the rest of the country; we are confident that Tijuana will be one of the cities most responsive to these changes. There are other, more traditional cities that are not in this competitive and dynamic border environment, where we can immediately see what is happening in the United States.”
