A major municipal cleanup initiative has resulted in the collection of more than 80 tons of bulk waste from neighborhoods across the city. The “Tijuana: Clean City” program, championed by Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz, targeted the districts of La Presa Este and La Presa Abelardo L. Rodríguez, directly benefiting over 11,000 residents.

In the Villa del Campo neighborhood of La Presa Este, crews transformed a vacant lot previously used as an unauthorized landfill on Aguacate Street by removing more than 20 tons of debris. The cleanup has significantly improved the area for 4,500 local residents.

The campaign then moved to the Altiplano neighborhood, where work on Arroyo Grande Street was overseen by Councilwoman Magaly Ronquillo Palacios. In this phase, nearly 60 tons of trash and construction rubble were collected. The project also included grading and leveling 1,500 square meters of road surface.

Adriana Barrera Hernández, acting head of Delegation coordination, commended the collaborative spirit of the community. She emphasized that this partnership is crucial to the municipal government’s mission of transforming Tijuana into a clean and orderly city for all families.

Delegation representatives Joaquín Sandoval (La Presa Este) and Gabriela Ponce (La Presa Abelardo L. Rodríguez) echoed this sentiment, encouraging communities to continue submitting requests for similar interventions through their local delegations.

The “Tijuana: Clean City” program reaffirms the local government’s commitment to fostering community development and enhancing quality of life by creating cleaner, safer, and more orderly public spaces for all citizens.
