In a significant push to improve urban living conditions for an estimated 5,500 residents, the municipal “Tijuana: Clean City” program has successfully removed more than 14 tons of garbage and debris from neighborhoods across the city. The initiative, overseen by the administration of Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz, targeted areas in the San Antonio de los Buenos, Playas de Tijuana, and Downtown delegations.
The operation began in the El Tecolote neighborhood (San Antonio de los Buenos), where crews collected nearly 8 tons of bulk waste and cleared silt from Ojos Negros Street. The work also included repairs to 10 public streetlights, a move expected to enhance safety for over 2,000 local residents.

The effort then moved to Playas de Tijuana, specifically the Todos los Santos neighborhood. There, city workers graded a 2,000-square-meter section of Santa Teresa Street and collected an additional 5 tons of heavy trash, benefiting more than 500 residents.
In the city’s Downtown delegation, the focus was on International Avenue and Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez Alley where crews cleared 14 cubic meters of silt and construction rubble that had obstructed sidewalks, along with 1 ton of bulky waste, restoring safe pedestrian access.
The Tijuana government is urging citizens to support these efforts by refraining from littering in public spaces, emphasizing that community cooperation is essential to making the city clean and orderly for all people.
