More than 12,000 residents in eastern Tijuana saw visible improvements this week as Mayor Ismael Burgueño’s “Tijuana: Clean City” program moved through several neighborhoods. Launched last year, the initiative focuses on cleaning up streets, upgrading infrastructure, and revitalizing areas across the city.
Crews first worked in the Maclovio Rojas neighborhood of the La Presa Este delegation, where teams graded and leveled about 85,000 square feet of Avenida Constitución. The project is expected to improve access and daily conditions for more than 4,500 residents.

In Valle Verde, within the La Presa Abelardo L. Rodríguez delegation, city workers milled and prepared roughly 55 cubic yards of roadway along Calle Arroyo Poniente, benefiting an estimated 5,000 people.
City Councilwoman Magaly Ronquillo Palacios, who toured the sites, pointed to transparency as a key factor behind the program’s reach. “When government works with honesty and openness, resources go further,” she said, highlighting teamwork across city efforts.

The day wrapped up in the Bugambilias neighborhood of the Cerro Colorado delegation, where crews removed about 12 tons of heavy debris and refreshed road markings, improving conditions for another 2,500 residents. State Congresswoman Norma Angélica Peñaloza Escobedo joined city officials during the site visit and praised the collaboration.

Delegation leaders Joaquín Sandoval Chávez, Gabriela Ponce Velázquez, and Rosa María García Zamarripa were also present, along with public works staff and neighborhood residents.

City officials say the “Tijuana: Clean City” program will continue expanding citywide, with a focus on sustained improvements and cooperation with local communities.
