Tijuana Encourages Healthy Living with Ride, Run and Pet Costume Contest

The city government is set to host two family-friendly events at Parque México — the “Ride and Run for Peace” and “Fantasy Paws” costume contest.

With the goal of encouraging physical activity, promoting healthy coexistence, and strengthening community bonds, the Tijuana municipal government invites residents to take part in the upcoming “Ride and Run for Peace Against Addiction” and the “Fantasy Paws” pet costume contest.

Both events, designed to spread a message of peace and addiction prevention, will take place on Sunday, October 26, at Parque México in Playas de Tijuana.

Christian Ponce Hernández, acting director of the Municipal Youth Institute (IMJUv), explained that the Ride and Run for Peace Against Addiction will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., as part of the city’s Day of the Dead festivities.

Registration

Participants can register by scanning the QR code included in the event’s promotional materials, which will lead them directly to the official registration form.

“The goal is to bring together Tijuana’s youth and families through sports, unity, and actions that help build a peaceful, healthier community,” said Ponce Hernández.

“Fantasy Paws” Pet Costume Contest

Also taking place at Parque México, the “Fantasy Paws” pet costume contest will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Alejandro Ibarra Moreno, delegate of Playas de Tijuana, noted that the contest aims to raise awareness about responsible pet ownership while offering a fun, family-friendly activity as part of the Ride and Run for Peace event.

Registration is free and will open at 3:00 p.m. on the day of the event.

Awards

Prizes will be given to the three most creative costumes:

  • 1st place: full grooming session at Petco México (valued at 1,500 pesos)
  • 2nd place: 800-peso gift card
  • 3rd place: 500-peso gift card

All participating pets must be on a leash and, when necessary, wear a muzzle, in accordance with local animal welfare regulations.
