Environmental Protection Secretary María Fernanda Sandoval Aldana said the partnership reflects a broader push to involve civil society and academic institutions in local environmental policy. She noted that joint projects are already being planned, including a post-holiday Christmas tree collection and recycling campaign.

City officials said the agreement will focus on practical initiatives related to conservation, ecological restoration, and sustainable urban development, with particular attention to urban forestry, public environmental education, and technical training.
