Data analysis on Twitter by “@lapanquecita” displayed a table which ranks the municipalities of Mexico with the highest murder rates in 2022, which ended a few weeks ago. In this table, Tijuana leads the list with a total of 1,830 absolute homicides and a rate of 95.2%.
It should be noted that this was calculated based on data by the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP); the list was created according to the number of absolute homicides and the mortality rate per 100,000 thousand people. In 2nd place was the municipality of Juárez, Chihuahua, with a total of 885 absolute homicides and a homicide rate of 58.5%.
In this analysis, only municipalities that have a population of at least 50,000 inhabitants were included, which is why 30 municipalities were ranked and other regions of Mexico were not included.
