Tijuana Mayor Ismael Burgueño Receives ‘Aulex’ Distinction from CONCANACO

During the event, the mayor met with the head of CONCANACO SERVYTUR to strengthen ties and boost the local economy.

In an effort to strengthen economic ties and promote local development, Tijuana Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz met with Octavio de la Torre de Stéffano, president of the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services, and Tourism (CONCANACO SERVYTUR), in Mexico City.

During the meeting, the mayor emphasized the importance of collaboration, stating:

“We recognize that Tijuana is growing by leaps and bounds, driven by the strength of its people, entrepreneurs, and merchants. As municipal authorities, our role is to serve as facilitators, working in harmony with the business community.”

The mayor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to acting as a reliable ally to local businesses, pledging to listen to their needs and work in unity to create conditions that strengthen the local economy.

He also highlighted key initiatives his administration has launched to support the city’s development, including the programs Tijuana: Ciudad Limpia (Tijuana Clean City), Tijuana Saludable (Healthy Tijuana), and Fondos Tijuana (Tijuana Funds), as well as the creation of the Business Advisory Council, designed to ensure ongoing communication with the local business sector.

Furthermore, Mayor Ismael Burgueño was awarded the ‘Aulex’ distinction by CONCANACO, an honor granted to municipal presidents who demonstrate leadership, commitment, and effective public policy in support of local economies and tourism.

In receiving the ‘Aulex’ distinction, the mayor thanked CONCANACO for the invitation and took the opportunity to showcase Tijuana’s strengths, including its status as the busiest border crossing in the world and its dynamic economic activity.

Both he and CONCANACO SERVYTUR President Octavio de la Torre reiterated their commitment to continued collaboration, agreeing that coordinated efforts between government and the productive sector are essential to bolstering the local economy.

Congressman Ramón Vázquez Advances Economic Agenda at National Level

Separately, Baja California Congressman Ramón Vázquez Valadez participated in the same institutional meetings held by CONCANACO SERVYTUR in Mexico City, where key strategies to boost investment and competitiveness were discussed.

Vázquez Valadez underscored the importance of building synergies across different levels of government and the business community, noting that such forums help consolidate a shared agenda for sustainable economic growth.

“Maintaining open and ongoing dialogue is essential to advancing public policies that benefit our communities,” he said.

During the meetings, the congressman also met with Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz, Baja California Investment Promotion Committee Coordinator Gina Villalobos, Tijuana Business Coordinating Council President Carlos Jaramillo, and State Congresswoman Evelyn Sánchez Sánchez to exchange ideas on strengthening institutional collaboration across the region.
