Mayor Ismael Burgueño of Tijuana met with officials from the Consulate General of Haiti to establish institutional ties and strengthen collaboration.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the imminent inauguration of the Haitian Consulate in Tijuana, a significant step given that this city is home to one of the largest Haitian communities in Mexico.

Mayor Burgueño expressed his commitment to fostering joint efforts to address the needs of the Haitian community in Tijuana, particularly regarding access to services, social integration, and the creation of opportunities.
He also reaffirmed his dedication to respecting human rights and building an inclusive city where all residents can fully exercise their rights.

For his part, the Deputy Consul of Haiti, Loobensy Timore, thanked the mayor for his openness and the support the Haitian community has received. He also noted that establishing the Consulate in Tijuana will facilitate access to consular services and procedures for Haitians living in this region.
Also attending the meeting were Pedro Alejandro Montejo Peterson, head of Tijuana’s Department of Economic Development (SEDETI); Óscar Higuera Betancourt, Director of Economic Promotion at SEDETI; and Wisly Desir, Administrative Assistant at the Haitian Consulate.
