Tijuana city officials met with business leaders from Coparmex Tijuana this week to coordinate efforts aimed at improving quality of life for residents and supporting the city’s economic development.

The working meeting was led by Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz and Coparmex Tijuana President Elisa Ibáñez Aldana, who agreed on the importance of maintaining open communication between local government and the private sector.

During the meeting, Burgueño shared an overview of the municipal government’s main actions in 2025, highlighting progress in urban cleanup and organization, repairs to priority roadways, improvements to garbage collection services, and the installation of new street lighting.

He also pointed to initiatives such as Safe Pathways and the “Healthy Tijuana” program, among other projects that he said have had a direct impact on residents’ daily lives.

Looking ahead to 2026, the mayor outlined upcoming projects and strategies and stressed the need for continued collaboration with the business community.

“Maintaining permanent communication is essential,” Burgueño said. “These working sessions allow us to explain what we’re doing as authorities, address unresolved issues, and keep moving forward together, as we’ve done since the beginning of this administration.”

Pedro Montejo Peterson, Tijuana’s economic development secretary, addressed questions and proposals raised by Coparmex members during the meeting, while reiterating the city’s commitment to strengthening local businesses and promoting public policies aimed at improving overall quality of life.

Ibáñez Aldana welcomed the mayor’s openness to dialogue and reaffirmed Coparmex Tijuana’s willingness to work closely with city officials.

“For us, collaborating with government as a constructive and consultative counterbalance is essential,” she said. “While we point out challenges facing businesses, we also propose solutions and get involved. Business, government, and society share a common goal: well-being and prosperity.”
