Tijuana will celebrate a significant cultural milestone this October as the city’s opera marks its 25th anniversary with a special production of Pietro Mascagni’s passionate masterpiece Cavalleria Rusticana.

The local government, through its Department of Culture, is partnering with the Tijuana Opera to present the celebrated one-act work on Saturday, October 4th at the iconic Casa de la Cultura in Playas. The event underscores the city’s commitment to bringing high-quality artistic experiences to the public.

Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz has prioritized initiatives that strengthen the city’s artistic identity as providing access to profound cultural experiences is essential for enriching the life of the community.

“The gala will be held at Casa de la Cultura in Playas de Tijuana, an iconic city landmark. Hosting the event there is not a coincidence; it’s a statement of cultural policy. It is a symbol of education and community,” said Ilya Guadalupe Haro Sánchez, head of the city’s Department of Culture.

Haro Sánchez emphasized the importance of exposing young people to artistic processes firsthand, from orchestra rehearsals to choral harmonies, to foster a deep-rooted love for the arts.
