The City Hall under Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz has organized a major clean-up operation in Downtown Tijuana. The initiative, spearheaded by the Directorate of Inspection and Verification, brought together city workers and local business owners to deep-clean public spaces and improve the city’s urban image.
José Antonio Olivas Heredia, head of the Municipal Inspection and Verification department, highlighted the collaborative spirit of the event. He noted that approximately 100 local merchants joined personnel from his department in the effort.
The campaign focused on the city’s historic center, where crews performed manual sweeping and washing of streets using soap and water. The targeted area included several key avenues, such as Niños Héroes from Segunda Benito Juárez to Cuarta Diaz Mirón, and Avenida Constitución from Segunda to Quinta Emiliano Zapata, along with surrounding streets. The work resulted in a visibly improved state for the neighborhood.
Olivas thanked all people involved in this event and stated that this campaign is a clear example of shared responsibility and demonstrates the commitment of the local business community.
Beyond the clean-up, officials used the opportunity to issue a call to action for all residents. They urged citizens to help maintain the improved conditions by properly disposing of trash in public containers and refraining from littering, emphasizing that such habits directly contribute to the community’s overall well-being.
The Municipal Government reaffirmed that this operation is part of its broader commitment to fostering civic pride and encouraging active citizen participation in the care of public spaces.
